To ski

The Zürs plateau is flanked by snow-white mountain ranges. It is no coincidence that Austria’s first drag lift pulled skiers uphill here as early as 1937. For more than half a century, the “White Ring” has closed the circle to the neighboring towns.

The 22-kilometer ski circuit with a total of almost 5,500 meters difference in altitude is considered the longest in the world – and with its never-ending panoramic views, perhaps also the most beautiful. Shortly before

Christmas 2016, the eternal dream of the Zürs ski pioneers finally came true: The new Flexenbahn connects all Arlberg ski regions to form the largest connected ski area in Austria. And today? If you strap on a pair of skis in Zürs, takes a special feeling with you onto the slopes: the Zürs lifestyle. Do you already feel the tingling sensation?

Zurs can justifiably be called a deep snow paradise. Ski runs usually start right at the top of one of the numerous peaks in deep snow and end very comfortably right at the hotel.

Skier heart, what more could you want? In addition to the fine hotels and gourmet restaurants, the region offers winter sports enthusiasts what they most desire: perfect snow in Austria’s largest contiguous ski area. And that up to the hotel. All hotels in Zurs can be reached on skis from the piste – and from there you can ski to the lift. That is ski in – ski out and one reason why Zurs is so popular.

The cradle of alpine winter sports

Alpine skiing has its origins in Zürs. Winter sports and Zürs, this success story began at the beginning of the last century. The people in Zurs discovered the possibilities of winter for themselves early on. Above all Viktor Sohm, who held the first ski course for locals in 1906, as well as Sepp Bildstein and the builder of the first drag lift in Austria in 1937.

In the meantime, the entire region has established itself in the worldwide elite of winter sports areas – 200 km of high-alpine deep snow runs or 305 kilometers of perfectly groomed ski runs speak for themselves. Just like lifts with heated seats and the 16 hotels and pensions at 4 and 5 star level.

The time of enjoyment begins with the last turns in the valley. Whether in an excellent gourmet restaurant, a hearty parlor with regional fare, an exquisite wine cellar or in a hip cocktail bar.
