The ski resort San Martino di Castrozza is located in (Italy, Trentino in Sud Tirol). For skiing and snowboarding, there are 60km of Piste available. 21 Lifts transport the guests. The winter sports area is situated between the elevations of 1,404 and 2,357 m.
The ski resort of San Martino di Castrozza lies in a beautiful Dolomite landscape. The amazing views of the Pale di San Martino (Pala group) and the traditional hospitality make a winter holiday in the ski resort of San Martino di Castrozza something special. The well-prepared slopes, most of which have snow-making capabilities, cater to all difficulty levels, with different gradients and offer lots of variety for fun skiing and snowboarding.
There is a very good selection for both beginners and experts. There are two separate areas for children with moving carpets and practice lifts.
Beautiful cross-country trails complete the varied offering in the winter sports resort of San Martino di Castrozza.
More than just skiing
As an alternative or supplement to skiing, San Martino di Castrozza, Passo Rolle, Primiero and Vanoi offer from 7th January until 05th April 2021 a rich weekly programme: guided walks, snowshoes excursions, tasting of typical local products, historic and artistic tours, fascinating explorations and outdoor adventures. An unusual and exciting way to experience the atmosphere of mountain villages and the environment of the Paneveggio Pale di San Martino Nature Park in the quiet of the winter season.
Some activities are carried out only when a minimum number of members is reached. The program may at any time vary due to force majeure..
SNOWSHOES EXCURSION
San Martino di Castrozza
Even people who are not that keen on sport have discovered the pleasure of excursions in the winter woods on snowshoes.
The old wooden “craspe” or “ciaspole”, as they are called in Italian, with string bindings, have now been replaced by modern, lightweight versions in metal or plastic that are done up like standard ski boots. Learning how to use them is really easy, so even children will fall in love with this sport which allows you not only to partake in pleasant strolls, but also to perform jumps, dives and somersaults in powdery snow.
Every day, the Alpine guides organise excursions to the most beautiful areas: the Colbricon Lakes on the trail of prehistoric hunters, the plateau of the Pala mountain range in a fascinating atmosphere created by the “sea of snow”, the Piani della Cavallazza which is the kingdom of the chamois, the magical Val Venegia, and hiking trail of the “Cristo Pensante” on Mount Castellaz.
Cost:
€ 30 all day, € 20 half day, € 15 excursions at sunset or in the evenings, including snowshoe hire and poles, plus the services of an Alpine guide. Any charges for using ski lifts are borne by the participants.

SNOW SAFETY COURSE
San Martino di Castrozza
A short course held by the Alpine guides to learn the basic notions of snow cover and avalanche rescue techniques. You will learn how to safely tackle winter activities in the mountains – snowshoeing, ski mountaineering and freeriding.

WINTER NORDIC WALKING

DINNER BY SNOWMOBILE

An unforgettable experience that starts with the ride up on a snowmobile along the illuminated ski slope, an aperitif at 2,000 metres based on local products and craft beer, plus dinner in a “rifugio” (mountain refuge). Round off the evening with a night-time ride down in the cable car!

VILLA WELSPERG, THE “HOUSE” IN THE PARK
Val Canali
Don’t miss the new layout at Villa Welsperg in the magnificent Val Canali. A path of discovery and reflection through the valleys which wind through this immense protected area, to learn about the rich biodiversity within them, and their environments and landscapes.
A “magical route” for children packed with mini challenges to overcome (the “Via della Lepre, the “Via Ferrata”…), plus exciting encounters with some of the Park’s inhabitants: the stag, the mother lynx, the baby marmots in their burrow…

SAN MARTINO DI CASTROZZA THROUGH HISTORY AND NATURE
A stroll around the town lasting about an hour and a half to learn about its historical roots and the wonderful naturalistic features of this renowned location in the Dolomites. Stories about English eighteenth-century travellers and the Alpine pioneers are interspersed with information about the surrounding naturalistic setting, protected by the Parco Naturale Paneveggio – Pale di San Martino.
Stopover at Maso Col for a cup of tea made from medicinal mountain herbs produced by the Erborì company.

The secrets of the winter wood and a sweet homemade snack.
An easy guided walk for both kids and adults, between snow covered peaks and magic landscapes, to teach you how to listen to the nature and to understand its secrets, like how plants and animals can survive during the wintertime.
After the walk, an homemade snack in the warm and cozy atmosphere of Maso Col.

ON THE SNOW WITH AVALANCHE DOGS

TROIKA RIDE
DISCOVER THE FARMING WORLD BY CARRIAGE

PASSO ROLLE:
- New fun-filled bob sleigh and sledge track over 400 m long, can be reached by the Cimon chairlift. Sledges can be hired at the two ski rental shops on the pass and tickets for the chairlift can be bought at the ski pass kiosk in front of the hotel Venezia. Ride up on the chairlift and zoom back down on the specially designed track!
