The Valais holiday resort of Morgins is located at around 1300m in the valley of the same name, a side valley of the Val d’Illiez in Lower Valais, right on the border with France. From Monthey in the Rhone Valley, the road leads through the Val d’Illiez to Troistorrents and from here in numerous narrow bends up into the high valley of Morgins (15km from Monthey). The Pas de Morgins border pass, a small saddle with a pretty mountain lake, leads into the French Val d’Abondance.

The 400 square kilometer winter sports region “Portes du Soleil” includes twelve locations with 650 kilometers of slopes and 214 kilometers of cross-country trails. The 195 cable cars and lifts in the region can be used with a single ski pass and open up slopes in middle locations between 1000 and 2466 meters above sea level. You can only ski from one station to the next, from one valley to the next and from one country to another – a unique experience. Cross-country skiers will find 20km of trails, including the popular high-altitude trail around Lac de Morgins. In the children’s snow land with two lifts of different difficulty, the little ones can have their first experiences on the snow.

Other winter experiences around Morgins are carriage rides, snowshoeing, a natural ice rink (illuminated in the evening) or snow go-karting.

On the former farm “La Ranch” at the entrance to the car-free valley of They, accompanied rides on horses and ponies in the wonderful nature of the Portes du Soleil are organized and riding lessons are offered. Carriage and sleigh rides are also possible in the cold season.

In summer you can explore an extensive network of hiking trails with several themed trails such as the planetary, forest, bridge or bee trail. On the hike from Val de Morgins to Val d’Illiez, the Dents-du-Midi and the Mont-Blanc massif shape the panorama. Plant lovers will find many species here that are rare in Switzerland, including orchids. Other sports options include horse riding, tennis, grass karting, an outdoor pool, the mini golf course in the village center and archery.

53 mountain bike descents delight bikers in the “Portes du Soleil” region. 650km of bike trails and several freeride slopes open up the Swiss-French bike park. The loop to the Pointe des Mossettes viewpoint on the way from Val de Morgins to Champéry provides a good overview of this bike area.
